Greater Accra, 26/09/2022: Help a Father Foundation (a non-profit in Ghana dedicated to prostate cancer eradication) announced that they will be supporting fathers with prostate cancer in Ghana with financial support starting today and are currently requesting referrals to help them identify and engage patients who meet their project funding and support criteria.
OVERVIEW
It all started when a son, witnessing a father’s pain, an outcome of a lack of funds to undergo a simple prostate surgery, decided to take action! Hence, the founder of Help a Father Foundation, Frederick Kwakye Duodu, kept his reverie of supporting fathers leaving with prostate-related issues, leading to the formal registering of ‘’HELP A FATHER FOUNDATION LBG” as an NGO dedicated to supporting fathers suffering from prostate cancer in Ghana and beyond.
The foundation is committed to reducing the impact of prostate cancer on Ghanaian men and their spouses by:
- Promoting prostate cancer issues in Ghana through credible information
- We provide financial support to patients to effectively treat prostate cancer.
- Providing awareness of prostate cancer issues through media and father-to-father advocacy
- Working closely with health facilities and practitioners to provide the best patient care services for men with prostate cancer.
- Engaging the government and public sector providers to improve prostate cancer care support services.
In a bid to fulfill its mandate of providing financial support to the needy and patients from under-served areas, the foundation is currently in search of prostate cancer patients to provide them with financial and related support services, focusing on the Greater Accra Region of Ghana for a start.

HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US?
We need your support in terms of referrals to help us identify patients who will be deserving of critical financial support to aid them battle prostate cancer with ease. We target especially poor people in under-served communities and pro-poor households who do not have the financial resources to take care of their prostate cancer treatment and related medical bills.
WHY THE SUPPORT?
Every year, more than 134,600 men in Ghana are diagnosed with the disease, out of which 31,600 succumb to it annually. Most of the people who die from prostate cancer die mainly due to poverty and low income, which makes it impossible for such patients to get the best treatment and support services. Your reference will help us to identify patients who are at critical risk and, at the same time, deserving of financial aid capable of buying them their lives back. This is an opportunity for you to contribute to a future where the lives of fathers in Ghana are not limited by prostate cancer.
